52 Projects – Week 6 – Love blocks

This weeks 52 Projects!

Well, they have taken me three weeks to finish.  And quite a learning curve in material usage, done through lots of experimentation on some other blocks I had.   But aside from a coat of spray on varnish, they are done!

The darker colour is actually a deep purple.  The reason I didn’t do the letters in red is because this is not about romantic love, but spiritual Love.  And of course my obsession with purple has not ended.  But I threw some red in it because romantic love is all apart of it as well!

I love them - just enough embellishment to add to the beauty but not detract from the message.

What a wonderful project, Annie! I agree that this is a project I'd like to do and there are so many possibilities. Did you do each block on a piece of canvas?

OKAY...I had to re-read. I'm assuming these are done on actual wooden blocks. Just love them ;)

Thanks Bev, thats exactly what I going for!

faerwillow - yes, I didn't want to limit what these blocks were about!

Hey Nicci! You should definitely join in. It's great to be doing a project each week and the possibilities on the type of project you do are endless!

Hi Jane! Yes, wooden blocks. But I painted two coats of grey paint first of all. Then did the cream coat, which I then dabbed at with a scrunched up paper towel to bring off that effect. They grey came through just enough to give some substance.

I love the way you make these blocks look so professional. You have a lot of patience to fiddle with all the small embelishments and do all the coats of paint etc which I am sure were needed with these. They are beautiful :)
