52 Projects Wk 27, 24 - Carport Phase 1, some light fun!

HOG Games!

The first of todays projects was one I had a lot of fun doing!  It's not something I would generally call a project but it certainly turned into one!  I spent the better part of a day discovering, searching for and downloading only the best of the best of the one computer game that I LOVE playing - HOG Games.

Hidden Object Games are just awesome.  If you've never tried them, I highly recommend them!  They are about finding hidden objects in rooms and other settings whilst getting absorbed in a storyline.  The best ones are those where you have to find an object, work out how and where to use it.  You can't go on to the next scene in the story until you have done so.  I love it the most when you have to move from one setting to another in order to find all the objects and tasks.  There are often all sorts of puzzles to solve as well.

Anyway, this project has seen me set myself up to get regular updates of the latest releases, along with the reviews from the Big Fish website (the best one!).  Here is a small list of some of the best series I have come across.

  • Mortimer Beckett
  • Alabama Smith
  • Flux Family
  • Puppet Show
  • Crystal Portal

Our Carport - Phase 1

This one is a major project and won't be finished for a while yet.

Our carport had become a complete disaster over the last few months.  Filled with all sorts of things that we have had to step over to get to other things!  You know the story!

D also needs a space of his own to work on his projects, to have all his tools etc etc. - the mans shed!

So, the project is to clean up the carport and then D is going to build a workbench with cupboards and shelves and have his own space along the fence line of our carport.

It began with tearing down the shadecloth and waterproofing the area.  Putting up polycarb panels and guttering and linking the gutter into the downpipe - that was D's job.  Then we went through the stuff together - oh dear!  We have a pile of stuff for the hard rubbish pick up, a pile of stuff that went into the bin and a pile of stuff that are neatly stacked by the fence ready to go into the new workbench cupboards.

And during all that I was sweeping out all the dirt, rubbish and spiderwebs as well as the  leaves from the big storm we had recently - from this area as well as from the patio which also got a big clean up in the process.  We now have a nice, clean, dry area all ready for D to begin the project that he is really look forward to doing and to finishing so that he can take advantage of his new space!

Here is the progress so far.

Before Photos:

The old shadecloth.  The workbench will go along this fenceline.

The pile of junk!!  Garden stuff, old cupboards, tools...

The After Photos

The polycarb sheeting bringing in much more light and not letting in the rain!  The rubbish bins at the end of the carport where they will eventually have their own little room to hide them.  The pots that we are keeping that will go in the workbench cupboards.

Nice and clean and tidy!  Oh and I don't have to step over things when I get out of the car anymore!!

Wow Annie! That was a lot of work you did together. And don't you feel fantastic now? It will be fun from now on - D building his space. I love the games you mentioned. I had not heard of them before. Certainly could amuse myself when a restless spell comes on. Will have a boo.

Annie, I'm so sorry it took me a week to get over here! And it's already time for this week's 52 Projects :)) Great work on the car port. It looks like you two really cleaned and organized. What a great feeling! I'll have to look in to some of those computer games. Sounds like fun. Kind of like the I Spy books in computer form.
