Hi all! Hope you are all well and happy and continuing to thoroughly enjoy your 52 Projects just as much as I am!
Clutter Clearing Indoors this time!
Well, last weekend turned out to be wild and woolly weather, so we weren't able to get out into the carport and finish it off.
So instead, we turned our attention indoors. Clutter clearing continued! We sorted through boxes of electrical stuff filled with chords, wiring, computer parts, software etc etc. This was a box I've been waiting to go through with D for ages!! A lot of stuff got thrown out, but there were also some wonderful treasures! and a few more things for the workbench.
I was then able to reorganise the laundry cupboards as that was where some of the boxes were stored. More throwing out and treasures to be found. And now I have wonderfully organised cupboards and SO much more room.
We also sorted through two old computers that we don't use anymore. We took off what we needed and copied them into our current computers. One will be used again by D's Dad. The other unfortunately, is so old and outdated we can't even give it to Goodwill or a computer recyclers. It's gone in the hard rubbbish. More room in the study now!
We are going gung-ho around the house D and I! It's fantastic!
(No photos this time, sorry!)
BBQ Patio Bench
Our latest project in improving the outside area of our home is building, repairing and installing a bench under the patio to go next to the bbq.
We were lucky enough to score a black granite benchtop for free that D's mate (who owns a kitchen building business) was going to throw out. Find!! The granite needs a lot of work - polishing and removing bits and pieces from when it was installed in someone's old kitchen.
But to start with, D built a steel frame for it. He still had bits of steel left over at work and welded them together to build this. He left feet room underneath and room for two shelves. We are going to ask his mate to make us some nice shelving finished off properly so it looks shmick.
(Ignore the mess around it - we are still gradually filling the bins each with our pile of stuff that we have thrown out and at the time this was taken, hadn't started clearing up the workbench)
Personally, I think the man is just so clever, measuring and welding all the bits together. I'm highly grateful to have met someone who can do all this stuff!
Then, it was my turn. Over the course of this week I have done two coats of steel anti-rust primer, light sanding of the primer and then top coat (also an anti-rust). I was pleased to discover it didn't need a second coat of colour.
This is where it is going to go in the patio.
And the next picture is a sneak peak of the granite top. We are off to Bunnings today to get what we need to clean up and polish the granite.
And a future project is - we are going to build wooden boxes to fit on the shelves and paint them bright colours for storage. Complete with lids so things don't get dirty from being outside. Finally a nice place to put all the outdoor table settings and utensils!
I am so loving all these home improvement and clutter clearing projects we are doing together.

Absolutely AWESOME! Such a find as you say - and to be able to work together to make yourselves a wonder haven ... how good does it get. I love your projects. Carry on and have fun!
I love how you two are really getting in to the spirit of organizing! It makes such a difference when you've finished a project like this because it frees you up and very often leads to even more organizing! I love the outdoor BBQ table. It's really stunning. Breen and I bought a welding kit and really want to learn how to weld. We are having a problem with the welding mask though. It's so dark that Breen can't see through it at all. What kind of welding mask does D use?
Hi Jane, D uses BOC Gases Automatic Darkening Helmet. He says they are excellent for beginners because when you aren't welding, you can see through them.
