Putting in the organic soil.
Piles of grass, dirt and weeds
The bad-ass concrete setting before being moved, plus more weeds to pull from the garden bed and some old weeds still to collect and move to the "pile"!

Pulling out the old bricks and securing the new border with the new soil.
AND FINALLY, the planting of the first of our new plants -4 kangaroo paws amongst the moss rocks! YYEEEAAA. (Our ordered online plants haven't come yet. I can't wait.)
Then moving the big bad ass concrete table and seats and placing my newly painted colourful outdoor setting above the moss rocks. (photos in part 3 of both kangaroo paws and new setting in its place!)
We still have SO much more to do. But have stopped for this weekend. I have been unwell this week and can't do anymore and D is exhausted from doing all the soil and mulch.
I'm feeling bad that D is doing so much work to get the garden how I want it in time for Mum's 80th. He is exhausted and he hates gardening! And he has to be careful about his energy as he is in recovery from chronic fatigue. He is doing this for me mostly. But he agrees that we need to do this for Mum and he is also looking forward to how it's all going to look in the end. He has had great ideas for plants and always comes up with good ways of doing projects.
He is outside now working on the granite counter top we got for free. This and the workshop is what he wanted to do this weekend. And now at 1.30 on Sunday, he is finally getting to it. Thank you so much D. I am so grateful and appreciate it more than you know.
He is disappearing to a mates soon for an afternoon of well deserved "him" time, playing pool, having a beer and chilling out with his mate. Have a totally relaxing time, hon!

Sorry to hear you are sick, Annie! All that work .. still can't get over how much you have accomplished in such a short time. It will all come together. Both you and D ... you're health comes first. Can't wait to see the pics. Be well.
You guys are doing so much for your yard. I love it!! There is something so satisfying about working with your hands all day and coming back inside to lay down after the hard work. THREE CHEERS FOR D!!!! I hope you feel better.
When I got engaged, an older married man gave me some advice. He told me to make sure my husband and I did "projects" together.
When my husband and I do that (I wish we did more projets together), we do feel more of a bond.
I think it's awesome that you and D spend time together working on our home.
Hey, the word verification for this comment is "props", and seeing as that's what you both deserve for all the hard work, as well as doing so much when sick and recovering (been there with the fatigue thing; no fun at all. but it never returned once I got better, and it's been almost 20 years). Good for you! And it's great that your appreciation for D is on the record now.
